Where do I start? the beginning?

Bought the car around this time last year...

Even though the car looked great, it wasn't without it's problems and also a couple of embarrassing moments but we all learn!

Did my first track day at Donnington which had the car spluttering after just 2 laps, after checking for a blockage in the fuel system the penny dropped; the car originally had a 1.6 crossflow engine and then had an engine conversion. What if the fuel pump wasn't upgraded? My suspicions were correct.

After buying a new pump, a filter king and some braided fuel pump I thought my problems were solved. Thought wrong; same problem occurring but taking a couple more laps, after thinking it was the ignition system breaking down we checked the tank and it didn't even have a breather! New tank now installed.

I'll skip a few bits and show the outlines of what I have replaced and why:

Missed the first thing I ever did which was to install the roll cage which will be in later pictures as I can't be bothered to load the same ones.

Repaired the bonnet and put some cooling holes in so under bonnet temps would be reduced, plus I had nothing to lose because this happened at Mallory seeing as I bolt/fluid checked the whole car and forgot the bonnet catches...

Changed the 17" pro race 1.2s and went down to 2 sets of 15" pro race 3s (1 wet set, 1 R888 set) as 17" are too big for a 7 style car and the tyres are also cheaper.

Bought an odessey battery and relocated it from the bulkhead to the passenger footwell for weight and centre of gravity.

I also decided to have an off at Mallory the 2nd time I went at 105mph and go into a barrier, fortunately I only damaged the rear arch slightly, 'curbed' 2 wheels and bent the near side wishbone. After spending lunch repairing the car I went out for the rest of the day with dodgy alignment as I didn't have the gauges :/ When I got the car back I ordered wide track wishbones, new bushes and steering rack extensions.

That just about sums up until about October time as the rest is uninteresting to read about, just involves many track days and anal levels of testing. Picture from the last track day this year...

I had also bought a Vauxhall Cavalier in order to take the engine out of and fill with forged internals. However, I would of had to upgrade my axle due to the extra torque which all together worked out at £8-9k if I was lucky and planned well so I got put off the idea because the car then becomes a money pit.

After watching an episode of top gear a light bulb came on and I ended up with an Rx-8, 53 reg, 65,000 miles with a compression test of excellent results from Mazda, FSH and all the extra jazz. After a week of fun (but expensive) driving I took the car off the road and began taking the engine out of both the Mazda and the Westfield.

I have since stripped any wiring I don't need and am going to build a new loom but last weekend the Renesis sort of fell in the Westy...

That's my year and the car so far, I will update from time to time but not everything I do will be released, purely because this is a pretty much a one-off conversion and I'm being an arse so most information about the conversion will not be released publicly Smile
